The challenge
Big, open institutional rooms need a floor that holds up to constant foot traffic and cleaning, but a single flat colour across that much area reads flat and offers no visual structure to the space.
Preparation & repair
- Mechanical surface preparation of the slab
- Layout and masking of the colour-band pattern
The system we installed
We prepared the slab and installed a resinous coating with masked colour bands — grey as the field colour with green bands defining the main circulation route through the room.
Colour banding turns a plain coated floor into something that helps people move through a building. Here the pattern was laid out and masked before coating so the lines are crisp and the field colour stays continuous.
For institutional and public-building floors — schools, community buildings, public-safety facilities — request a written estimate or submit plans as a general contractor.
Finished Floor
A steady walk-through of a large, empty institutional room with tan concrete-block walls and a partially exposed ceiling grid. The resinous floor is finished in a light grey with broad green bands running through the main walking route, and a lighter accent stripe alongside. The coating has an even satin-to-gloss sheen and reflects the ceiling lights.
The result
A hard-wearing, cleanable floor with built-in visual wayfinding. The finished walk-through is below.
